‚Thea Mika‘ is a tribute to Grandma Thea – and to the strong women of today, each with their own story. Back in 1937, Thea – grandmother of brand founder Michael Gerlach – followed in her grandfather’s footsteps and opened her very first shoe store. As a strong and independent woman, she gave it a personal and unique touch. Over more than 40 years, she built her own path in the shoe business, running up to five stores and serving generations of loyal customers.

Her grandson, Michael Gerlach, spent much of his childhood in those very shops – and later became a shoe designer himself. He went on to found a brand distribution agency, carrying on the family legacy now in its fifth generation. In 2018, he finally found the right manufacturer to bring his long-standing vision to life: creating high-quality, comfortable, and long-lasting women’s shoes — 100% made in Italy.

Since then, Michael has led Thea Mika alongside his wife Katja, who is responsible for brand communication and co-designing the collection. Together, they manage a passionate and colorful team with decades of experience in shoe design, production, and sales — all united by a shared love for craftsmanship and style.
